In our regular weekly round-up column, we look at the U23’s game at home to Crystal Palace from earlier as well as looking at how our loanees have done for their loan clubs over the past week.

Our U18 team are back in action this Saturday (April 1st) vs Coventry at Reaseheath with a 11.30am kick-off.

U23 – Crewe Alexandra 3-0 Crystal Palace
A comfortable win for the U23s this afternoon with goals from Callum Ainley and Ryan Wintle adding to Callum Saunders‘ first half opener.

Having named the same team as our trip to Ipswich last Monday, Alex Morris‘ team were in the ascendancy from the start with Daniel Udoh heading Oliver Finney‘s cross onto the roof of the net inside the opening 10 minutes. The opening goal of the game came on 20 minutes after a neat 1-2 between Jamie Wilkinson and Owen Dale on the right-side allowing Saunders to score a tap-in that was similar to Jordan Bowery’s at the weekend. Palace almost equalised straight away when Levi Lumeka got in behind the back 4 but his effort was saved well by Andy Dawber.

After a half time change for the visitors at the back, Crewe doubled their lead 5 minutes into the second period after the defenders backed away from Ainley, his right-footed effort from 25 yards found the bottom corner despite Palace keeper Kleton Perntreou getting his right hand on it. Again though, Palace could have equalised nearly straight away as Kian Flanaghan’s shot from outside the area was saved well by Dawber with Francis Baptiste hitting the post under pressure when he should have scored.

Udoh hit the post with 10 minutes remaining having beaten 2 men before Wintle’s 20-yarder coming 4 minutes from time with Perntreou making a right mess of a shot that was straight at him.

The next U23 game is a trip to Bristol City with the game taking place next Monday (3rd April) at Ashton Gate with a 7pm kick-off.

Team: Dawber; Wilkinson, Ng (c), Poscha, Pickering; Dale (Kirk), Wintle, Finney, Ainley, Saunders (Lundstram), Udoh (Reilly)

Loan Report
A new player to the loan report is Josh Lundstram with him making his debut for Sandbach United this weekend and scored the opener in a 2-0 home win against Chadderton joining former academy defender Jamie Morgan at Sandbach. Their next game is at Ashton Town next Saturday.

Lewis Reilly played the full game for Radcliffe Borough in their 3-0 home defeat against Lancaster City with former Alex striker Jordan Connerton scoring their 3rd. Radcliffe’s next 2 games are both in the league against Ossett Town, the away game on Tuesday night whilst the home game is on Saturday.

Luke Walley played for Whitchurch in their 1-0 home defeat against Silsden. Alport are currently in action (at time of writing) against Daisy Hill and travel to Carlisle City on Saturday.

There is no information on whether Ross Woodcock played for Alsager in their 2-1 home defeat to Holker Old Boys(no that is a real team and not one i’ve just made up). Alsager host Chadderton tomorrow night whilst they host Charnock Richard on Saturday.
