Crewe Alexandra are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by George Cooper in the two nil victory over Carlisle United at the weekend at Brunton Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Cooper was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Crewe heaped more misery on Carlisle United, with Cooper the main architect in a 2-0 success at Brunton Park. A neat pass was thumped home by Callum Cooke for the opener, and his wing wizardry handed Jordan Bowery a tap-in to seal victory.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Cooper for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Dean Lyness (Blackpool), Richard Duffy (Notts County), Sonny Bradley (Plymouth Argyle), Mark Beevers (Bolton Wanderers), Matt Dolan (Yeovil Town), Callum Camps (Rochdale), Josh Payne (Crawley Town), George Cooper (Crewe Alexandra), Ivan Toney (Scunthorpe United), John Akinde (Barnet), Chris Porter).

Manager – Luke Williams (Swindon Town).
