Preston have pinpointed Jon Otsemobor as a replacement for the departed Tyrone Mears. Since signing permanently for Crewe last January, Semmy has performed well and impressed many visiting scouts. The attacking full-back has already attracted interest from QPR, and his future was cast further into doubt after failing to report for pre-season training. However, Otsemobor apologised for that ‘misunderstanding’, and he seemed set to stay at Gresty Road.

Otsemobor is under contract at Crewe until next summer, though Crewe will doubtless be keen to extend his stay. Norwich are also reported to be keen on the full-back, though Preston’s interest is more concrete. Otsemobor is a similar type of player to Mears, possessing both great pace and attacking intent.
