Cheshire Police have annouced that they are to step up Policing at Crewe Alexandra games in the forthcoming season.

Trained officers oftern referred to as ‘spotters’ will be present at every game and will be on the look out for trouble makers.

Sergeant Carl Capewell, the Cheshire Police Eastern Area football liaison officer, said: ‘There will be two officers at each match looking out for any immediate trouble and, for any fans who are subject of football banning orders, they will pick up information which could result in longer-term action.

PC Miles Phillips who is the Liason officer for Crewe Alexandra and also the area’s football intelligence officer, added: ‘If anything is causing fans concern we want to hear about it.

Troubled flared when supporters encroached on to the playing field in the final home game of last season against Tranmere and they are keen to avoid a repeat scenario next season.
