* Byron Moore is back in contention for a place in the Crewe squad having missed out against Swindon last Saturday.

Moore, who picked up a thigh injury against Millwall the previous week, was replaced in the team by impressive debutant Scott McManus and now faces a fight to get his place back.

* Moore should train today alongside striker Anthony Elding who has returned from a loan stint from Lincoln.

Elding, who requested a loan move as soon Gudjon Thordarson arrived, will have to impress the manager quickly if he wants to keep playing regularly until the end of the season.

His inclusion in Saturday’s squad looks unlikely, especially after slightly foolish comments this week that he would love to make a permanent move to Lincoln in the summer, even though he is yet to be put through his paces in Thordarson’s new regime at the Alex.

Goals have been in short supply for Crewe recently, but with a return of 3 goals in 15 appearances in his loan spell with Lincoln, Elding may not be the answer to Gudjon’s immediate worries.

* Another potential boost for Crewe is that Hartlepool’s Aussie forward Joel Porter is a major doubt for Saturday’s clash.

Although the news may not affect Gudjon’s thoughts as he must look after his own team, Porter is ‘Pools talisman and news that he may be saved for their Monday game if not 100% fit will be great news for the Alex as he is a player of matchwinning quality on his own.

* There are six League One games being played tomorrow, meaning Crewe could slip back into the bottom four before they play on Saturday.

Crewe fans will hope Bristol Rovers can do them a massive favour as they host Northampton, because a win for The Cobblers will put added pressure on the Alex as they would overtake them by a point, still with a game in hand.

Also Carlisle and Yeovil will look to put more pressure on the Alex with games against Oldham and Yeovil respectively, both at home and both looking to put more of a distance between themselves and the bottom four.
