Crewe Alexandra midfielder Oliver Finney has signed a contract extension with the club that will see him contracted to the club until 2023.
Finney, 22, came through the Academy system with the club, spending time on loan at Northern Premier League sides Nantwich Town and Halesowen Town before breaking through as a first-team member two seasons ago. Last season saw him establish himself as a rotation option at the club with Paul Green in the starting 11 and he added 6 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions from central midfield.
What are the club getting from extending Finney’s deal?
It’s really good to see him tied down to a longer deal with the club as this season could be the one that he establishes himself as a first-choice player. His goals from midfield took some of the pressure off the front 3 (something that he added to his game whilst in Alex Morris’ Under-23s) which sees him offer something different to the other players that play in his position.
