|

Tomorrow afternoon sees us host the league leaders (yes, again), this time it’s Hull City who travel to the Alexandra Stadium – the Tigers winning the other league meeting in September thanks to a late goal from Mallik Wilks.

This Season:

They sit in 1st place in the league following wins against Gillingham, us, Northampton Town, Plymouth Argyle, Rochdale twice, AFC Wimbledon, Bristol Rovers twice, Burton Albion, MK Dons, Ipswich Town, Doncaster Rovers, Charlton Athletic, Accrington Stanley, Portsmouth, Swindon Town, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United and Oxford United, they have drawn with Oxford, Sunderland, Blackpool, Lincoln City, Doncaster, Shrewsbury Town and Gillingham while they have lost against Fleetwood Town, Peterborough, Swindon, Shrewsbury, Blackpool, Portsmouth, Accrington, Burton, MK Dons and Ipswich.

In the cups, they lost out on penalties to Stevenage in the 2nd Round of the FA Cup (knocking out Fleetwood in Round 1), they lost at West Ham United in Round 3 of the Carabao Cup – beating both Sunderland and Leeds United on penalties – and finished top of their EFL Trophy group following wins against Harrogate Town and Grimsby Town with a defeat against Leicester City’s Under-21s. They would knock the Alex out on penalties in Round 2 and Fleetwood in Round 3 before going out on penalties in Round 4.

Transfers:

Since the last meeting, they have signed defender Max Clark and midfielder Jordan Flores on permanent deals with midfielder Dan Crowley and winger Gavin Whyte arriving on loan deals.

Midfielders Jordan Hickey, David Milinkovic and Daniel Batty have all left the club while defender Danny Lupano and midfielder Billy Chadwick have joined Derry City and Halifax Town respectively on loan.

Hull City 0-0 Crewe Alexandra (Hull won 3-2 on penalties), 8th December 2020 (EFL Trophy)

Greg Docherty missed the first penalty for the hosts before Chris Porter and Chadwick saw both teams off the mark in the shootout. Oli Finney, Regan Griffiths and Offrande Zanzala would all miss their pens for the visitors (added to Wilks’ pen) but Lewie Coyle scored, the Hull third, Perry Ng scored the Alex’s last with Hakeeb Adelakun scoring the winner.
