In the EFL Trophy, they finished top in their group after wins against Carlisle United and Harrogate before losing to Nottingham Forest’s Under-21s in the final group game with them beating Lincoln City in the second round on Tuesday night.

Since the last meeting, they have signed goalkeeper Radek Vitek and forward Jake Bickerstaff on loan deals.

Leaving the club permanently was midfielder Owen Devonport while a number of players have left the club on loan deals.

Aaron Rowe opened the scoring for the hosts in the 4th minute before Jack Nolan equalised a couple of minutes later. Mickey Demetriou gave the Alex the lead again in the 29th minute before Ben Woods levelled with a couple of minutes to play after Luke Offord had been sent off for the hosts. Josh Woods looked to have given the visitors the win with his goal in the sixth minute of stoppage-time only for Elliott Nevitt to equalise a couple of minutes later.
