Lawrence Injury Blow

Crewe have been dealt a big blow this morning with the news that Dennis Lawrence has suffered a fractured cheekbone. On loan from Swansea, ‘Snoop’ has been a defensive rock at the back [since Steve Holland left]. His partnership with fellow loanee has certainly been something special, helping us to 12 points out of a possible 15 in recent games.

A trailing Yeovil Town arm last night forced the big Trinidadian off at half time, replaced by George Abbey. Unfortunately scans revealed this morning that Thordarson’s speculation of a fracture came true.

He will now be out for at least a month and it will surely give Gudjon a bit of thinking to do. Will he stick with three central defenders – replacing Lawrence with either Abbey, O’Donnell or McCready – or will the winning formation have to be dismantled?
