Crewe forward Steve Jones is to join Burnley on a three year deal when his contract expires at the end of June. The 29-year old rejected a new deal at Gresty Road as he looked for a better financial package elsewhere. The Northern Ireland international received a mixed reception when he came on against Millwall on Sunday, with many believing that this deal had been tied up weeks ago. Jones will add some much needed pace to the Burnley attack, who will be hoping that Jonah is able to better his tally of an unimpressive 4 goals this season. Jonah has, however, continued to get into good positions and he amassed the 20th most shots of any player in the division this season, whilst securing the 2nd most assists in the division – 12. Crewe have already replaced Jones with Ryan Lowe who has put pen to paper on his one year deal, and likes Jones, can operate up front or on the wing.

Burnley have put the money they received from the Ade Akinbiyi deal to good use, securing the signings of Andy Gray and Alan Mahon. Mahon could prove to be one of the signings of the season with the midfielder likely to join Burnley for just £200,000 this summer. Jonah, however, is very much a confidence player so the reported £3500 per week, plus bonuses which could feasibly take that to £5k a week, could be a risk. Should Jonah rediscover his form, then he could be a very useful player for Burnley next season. Meanwhile, Burnley have transfer listed four players – Micah Hyde, Gifton Noel-Williams, Danny Karbassiyoon and Duane Courtney.
