Gudjon Is Clueless – In My Opinion!

At the time of making the ‘Holland? Probably the worst manager in the world!!!!!!” banner I really thought he was. I was pretty pleased when the board decided to relieve him on his duties and install Gudjon Thordarson at the helm. Now I feel I may have been a little harsh to Mr. Holland after the grim reality of League 2 has set in.

Okay, Holland was by no means a good manager, but I`m starting to think that Gudjon is even worse. Tactically they are/were the same, with the constant hoof ball from the defenders to the front men. They both also have/had no plan B.

You could say that Gudjon has had his hands tied in the transfer market with such as small budget after Holland seemingly wasted vast amounts of money last season, but then again what has he done over the summer? I really struggle to see anything. Countless trialists that proved to be a waste of time for all parties involved. The two new players from Histon look fine though, so credit is needed there but that`s about it.

Holland was defiantly one for the academy too, where as Gudjon seems to say one thing, and then do another. (Click here to see Matt’s Youth Is Vital article)

The thing that really gets my goat though are his press/interview skills. Come on Gudjon, do you stop to think before you open your mouth?

Only a few weeks ago he said he doesn`t care if the players are miserable, you can`t just go around saying things like that. What kind of a message is he trying to send out?

The comments posted on today`s Sentinel website are a disgrace. Just to make it clear, I did not boo the team on Saturday, but I think fans are entitled to voice their opinions. We pay good money to do it. If Gudjon didn`t like the booing then tough. What was there to be happy about? We`ve seen our team slide rapidly down the leagues to the depths of League 2, just who does he think is going to be happy with being 1-0 down at half time to opposition that looked so poor?

Here is what he said in the Sentinel:

‘I can’t get my head around what happened at half-time, I was surprised by the fans. The word supporter means you support, and if they are not supporting the team at home then they are not supporters.’

‘We’d had chances in the first half, so that reaction wasn’t healthy. If supporters want to help the visiting team, then that is the way to do it.’

‘Some of my players have told me it is better when we play away because the fans who go to those games follow the team, I thought it was harsh on Saturday and I will not count people who respond in that way as true supporters.’

What does he think comments like that are going to do? Are the fans going to shut up and take it? I don`t think so. I think you would have to be pretty stupid to think that they would.

If you don`t want people to boo, give them something to cheer about. We`ve not had that for years. Its time to put up, or shut up! Do something, don`t just make excuses. At least Holland knew what the fans wanted, and apologised for the poor performances and took things on board.

I was happy with the appointment of Gudjon last season, I thought he was a breath of fresh air and just what Crewe needed. I was well and truly 100% wrong.

Don`t leave it too late like we did last time! Time to get Gudjon Thordarson OUT!

GT says… “The word supporter means you support, and if they are not supporting the team at home then they are not supporters”.

I say… “The word footballer means you play football, and if they are not footballing then they are hoofballing.”
