Gudjon Thordarson was happy with his team following the 1-0 win against Wigan in tonight’s pre-season friendly.

The Iceman was particularly pleased with his ‘front four’.

Calvin Zola, Anthony Elding, Clayton Donaldson and goalscorer Joel Grant ‘led’ the line for much of the match, a formation that is hopefully going to be applied once the season is underway.

Speaking to crewealex.net, Gudjon said: ‘We played some good football, especially in the first half. We did the legwork and I thought Zola was a threat and I was surprised that we didn’t score at least one more of the chances we created.

‘I thought the front four were excellent in the first half. They kept their shape and discipline well and tracked back defensively when they needed too. They were a threat going forward and on chances created we deserved to be ahead at half-time.’

Meanwhile, the futures of striker Floibert N’Galula and defender Nathan Koo-Boothe are expected to the sorted over the weekend. Both trialists got a run out in the second half of tonight’s game but Gudjon has not completely made his mind up on either one of them yet…

‘The trialists have been with me for a few days now and nobody knows what might happen but I have a decision to make on both of them.’
