A first half Joel Grant goal was enough to give Crewe the win over Wigan in tonight’s pre-season friendly.

Both sides fielded strong teams for the game, with Premiership Wigan fielding a different 11 either half. Gudjon opted for what would seem to be his current best 11, including Adam Legzdins in goal, with trialists Floibert N’Galula and Nathan Koo-Boothe on the bench.

A good performance by the Alex was topped off ten minutes before the break by Joel Grant. The former Aldershot man fired past Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland at the second time of trying.

Both N’Galula and Koo-Boothe managed at least 20 minutes each in the match as they attempt to earn themselves a contract.

The win gives us a 100% record in pre-season so far after the 7-0 thrashing of Newcastle Town a couple of weeks ago. Next up for us is Nantwich away, we face the Dabbers on Sunday at 3pm.
