6’9 goalkeeper Jason Lloyd is on trial with the club as Crewe look to secure back-up for Ben Williams. 25-year old Lloyd currently plays in the Stockport area for a non-league side, but his agent contacted Crewe in a bid to win a deal.
Lloyd has had an interesting career to date, having also played cricket and basketball. His father is Clive Lloyd – the former West Indian cricketer. Lloyd featured in Crewe’s 2-1 midweek reserve victory over Stoke. Assistant Manager Neil Baker said, ‘He’s only playing in non-league football and we had contact from his agent. It’s a long shot, but technically he’s good and he’s a great size so he makes some good saves in training.’
