Goalkeeper Steve Phillips is well on the mend following a successful operation this week to remove a troublesome lump on his knee.

“I am optimistic and want to be back training within two weeks” – Steve Phillips

The experienced shot-stopper hopes to be back training in as early as ten days. His expected length of absence overall was originally set at between four and six weeks.

“I feel okay and the swelling has continued to go down,” Phillips told Crewe’s official website. “The knee is fine but remains a bit sore when I kneel down so it would hurt if I was to kick a ball or bend down to scoop up a shot.

“Other than that I feel fine and I am ahead of schedule,” he added. “I am optimistic and want to be back training within two weeks.”
