Former Alex Players On The Move – July 2023

In this column, we’ll look at those former Alex players that have been on the move in the month of July.

On Friday 7th, League 2 club Stockport County completed the signing of forward Nick Powell on a 3-year deal. He made 64 appearances, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for the Alex in the 2010/11 and 11/12 seasons before leaving for Manchester United.

On the same day, Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren signed forward Mikael Mandron on a 2-year deal. He made 85 appearances, scoring 24 goals in the 2020/21 and 21/22 seasons.

On Tuesday 11th, National League North side Chester signed defender Nathan Woodthorpe on a 12-month deal, immediately joining Northern Premier League side Marine on loan until January. He made 2 appearances in the EFL Trophy before being released in the summer of 2022.

On Monday 17th, Scottish Premiership club Livingston completed the signing of Michael Nottingham on a 12-month deal. He made 12 appearances, scoring 1 goal during a loan spell in the 2019/20 season.

On Friday 21st, Championship club Watford completed the signing of midfielder Jake Livermore. He was on loan during the 08/09 season but got injured before making an appearance.

On the same day, League 2 side Accrington Stanley completed the signing of defender Kelvin Mellor on an initial 12-month deal. He made 134 appearances, scoring 4 goals during 2 spells at the Alex between 2010 and 2014, as well as last season.

On Tuesday 25th, League 2 club Sutton United completed the signing of forward Scott Kashket. He made 19 appearances, scoring 1 goal during the 21/22 season.

On Friday 28th, League 2 side Morecambe signed midfielder Eli King on a season-long loan from Cardiff City. He made 18 appearances in all competitions during a loan move last season.

On Monday 31st, Cypriot club Enosis Neon Paralimni signed forward Bassala Sambou (link in Greek). He made 49 appearances, scoring 3 goals in all competitions during the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons.
