Gretna coach Andy Smith expects ‘keeper Greg Fleming to field more interest after having talks with Crewe this week. The 21 year old goalkeeper is highly thought of in Scotland having impressed for Gretna despite them being bottom of the SPL with just eight points.

The cash-strapped club are being forced to let Fleming go this summer despite having over a year on his contract left and he has already held talks with Steve Holland about a summer move to Gresty Road.

Gretna coach Andy Smith though believes Fleming can expect more interest, especially from other SPL sides.

‘Crewe have already noted their interest and have spoken to him and I’m sure SPL clubs will as well.

‘He is getting better and better and I genuinely think he has got a right good chance of doing very well in the game considering he is only 21.’

Fleming is being lined up to replace the seemingly out bound Ben Williams and Owain Fon Williams.

Gretna caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth also believes he will be high demand, and was more than happy with Fleming’s performance over the weekend.

Speaking to gretnafootballclub.co.uk he said: ‘Greg is terrifc,’ he said. ‘I don`t think he will have any problems finding a new club.’

‘I haven`t seen too many better goalkeepers of his age this year. He`s been outstanding this season and he was top class again today.’

Dundee United are reported to be showing an interest and another member of Gretna’s set up isn’t surprised. Team-mate Nicky Deverdics believes Fleming is good enough for the top:

‘Greg is in up there in Allan McGregor’s league. Although we are bottom and have let in so many goals, it doesn’t look great but he is only 21 and the saves he has made have been amazing so someone should snap him up.’
