Sass-Davies Called Up By Wales U21s

|

Central defender Billy Sass-Davies has been called up by Wales for their Under-21 squad for their forthcoming internationals. The Welsh play two away games as they travel to Orhei in Moldova on Friday 8th October (4 pm kick-off) before traveling to the Netherlands to play in Nijmegen the following Tuesday (7 pm kick-off). As a result, he will miss the home game against Doncaster on Saturday 9th as well as potentially missing the EFL Trophy game against Wigan on the 5th.

Wales currently sit in 2nd in their group after 2 games played on 4 points in Group E, having drawn 0-0 in the reverse fixture against Moldova in June before a 4-0 victory in Bulgaria, as they are looking to finish top or best second-place team to directly qualify for the tournament in 2023 in Romania and Georgia or finish second and play in a play-off if they are one of the other 8 teams to finish second in their group.

Sass-Davies, 21, has made 4 appearances for their Under-18s before joining up with their Under-21s where he has made 3 appearances, scoring his first goal at that level in that game against Bulgaria in Sofia.

Schoolboy Callum Hardy was part of the Wales Under-16 squad that played twice against France over the last week (France won both games, 5-0 and 3-0,) but there is no information whether Hardy got onto the pitch for either game.
