Crewe Alexandra’s latest full debutant Jon Guthrie says his weekend inclusion at Bournemouth was totally unexpected.

“I want more of it now, I don’t just want one performance” – Jon Guthrie

The nineteen-year-old defender’s only previous senior experience was as a late substitute in the 2-1 victory against Swindon Town back in October. However, he made the starting line-up for the first time after Matt Tootle and Gregor Roberson were both ruled out in Dorset.

“I haven’t been here too long so it was a bit unexpected to start, but overall I’m pleased with how I did,” Guthrie told BBC Radio Stoke. “I was always hoping to get the nod and get the chance to play. Hopefully I’ve done enough to get put in again.

‘I want more of it now, I don’t just want one performance,” he continued. “I’m not expecting to play every game week in, week out, but I’m hoping to put something in the gaffer’s mind.”
