Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker hopes that skipper Luke Murphy will still be with the club following tomorrow’s closure of the January transfer window.

“I don’t think anything is going to happen with Luke or anybody else” – Neil Baker

The 23-year-old academy product has been watched by a number of clubs over recent months – including Premier League Stoke City – after really coming into his own since being appointed captain following Ashley Westwood’s departure at the start of the season.

“There have been no definite inquiries and no offers,” Baker confirmed to This is Staffordshire. “People are always speaking to Steve about our players, but I don’t think anything is going to happen with Luke or anybody else.”

The Alex have already previously indicated there are unlikely to be any new arrivals at Gresty Road.
