Deadline Day Snippets

There’s very little deadline day action at Gresty Road today though Dario says he wants to extend the loan of goalkeeper Rhys Taylor, with the Chelsea keeper set to play his final game of his current loan spell against Stevenage on Saturday.

It’s now in the hands of Steve Holland, now Chelsea’s Reserve Team boss, with few problems envisage. Quite where this would leave Steve Phillips though, anyone?

Phillips is still recovering from a summer shoulder operation but signed a two year deal in the summer with the number one shirt guaranteed, Taylor only coming in to fill in.

Would rather we didn’t upset one of our own keepers for the sake of one who won’t be here in 12 months. Been there, done that.

Elsewhere, former loanee Gylfi Sigurdsson has made a big money move from Reading to German side Hoffenheim with the fee reportedly exceeding £6.5million.

‘Siggy’ had a short but sweet spell with ourselves early last year, playing 15 games and scoring three times. You could see his quality shine through then.

After returning to Reading he went straight into their first team and became their star player within months… makes you think, shouldn’t we be getting a slice of that £6.5million?

The only other slightly-Crewe-related bit of news today is Rob Hulse looks likely to sign for QPR this afternoon, though he’s been linked with more clubs than he’s had hot dinners in recent weeks.
