We enter the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy this weekend after sitting out the first round having received a bye.
The majority of first round games were played last night with just Notts County vs Sheffield Wednesday in the Northern section scheduled tonight.
There were a few shocks, with four League One teams getting knocked out at the hands of our League Two rivals and, yep, Port Vale are in the second round.
The draw will be split into Northern and Southern sections and further divided into East and Western sections, contrary to our original report that it is just North and South sections.
The draw will be made on Soccer AM on Sky Sports and Sky One at some point between 10am and 12pm on Saturday afternoon.
Northern teams in the draw: Chesterfield, Accrington, Rotherham, Port Vale, Shrewsbury, Macclesfield, Hartlepool, Bradford City, Burton Albion, Bury, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra, Huddersfield Town, Peterborough United, Sheffield Wednesday and Stockport County.
Not quite sure who is is officially in each section though most are pretty obvious.

according to the official johnstone’s paint trophy website the draw is still split into western and eastern sections for the second round http://www.johnstonespainttrophy.com/about-us/the-johnstones-paint-trophy/rules/competition-rules/
meaning no long trips to peterborough or hartlepool.
or have i read that wrong and it means the teams are merged before the second round not sure now.
No, you’re right. I read it wrong… Oops. Now corrected. Thanks.
