Dead and Buried

Four defeats in a row and in our lowest league position for some 18 years. It’s a matter of when, not if, Gudjon will leave the club.

The failings cannot all be attributed to the Iceman, definitely not, but his record as Crewe manager has been nothing short of abysmal. Remove his what you could call ‘honeymoon period’ in January and February and it makes even more shocking reading.

We don’t look like a team that’s going to be picking up wins any time soon. Despite obvious and sometimes proven ability the team looks disjointed, unable to play to their strengths whilst Gudjon insists on destroying the confidence of the club’s young keeper by bringing in two loanees, who is arguably no better than Legzdins himself.

It’s the 4 wins in the last 24 games that speaks loudest of all and something will have to give sooner rather than later. Few, if any, other clubs in the football league would have kept a manager past the 20th game.

Rumours on the Vital Crewe Message Board did point to Gudjon leaving the club before tomorrow’s game at Rotherham. Will we hear anything in the next 24 hours? It’s looking unlikely but nothing can be ruled out.

Beyond that a defeat at home to the Millers would surely seal Gudjon’s fate, whilst a win or draw…. maybe a stay of execution?

Really though we should have learnt our lesson last year…. don’t leave it too late!

Gudjon’s replacement? John Pemberton or Neil Lennon.
