Steve Davis wasn’t getting carried away with his second league win in succession.

The Alex may have nabbed all three points but there were a few too many scares at the wrong end of the pitch for many fans liking.

Still only three weeks into his job as manager, Davis has set about bringing major changes on and off the pitch but whilst they may be producing results already, Davis says there’s work to be done yet.

Speaking to the Official Website Davis said he’s still looking for a lot more from his players but is delighted to have a match winner in Nick Powell.

‘No games easy and the heart was fluttering today but we coped

‘I’m delighted but there are still cracks there to work on and this is only the start. We have work to do to get that perfection we all strive for, which is three points, a good performance and a clean sheet.

‘The difference was Nick’s goal. It was that little bit of quality and class in the final third that has won us the game. It came out of nothing again but we know he is a special player.

‘We know he is capable of doing things like that because we see that every day in training. He is now taking that into the matches and proving to be a real match winner for us.’

Davis now has a clear two weeks in which to work with the team with no game next weekend. Next up is the trip to managerless Northampton on December 10th, a team who’ve lost their last two games 4-1 & 7-2 respectively.
