Crewe could renew their interest in Hibs striker Clayton Donaldson after recent rejections.

The Alex were previously linked with the former York City man in January when a loan move was mooted. After recent rejections however that have seem to have seen Anthony Elding reject a move to Gresty Road and Stevenage snub Crewe’s approach for Steve Morison, Steve Holland could make a fresh move for Donaldson.

The 24 year old has only spent a year at the SPL side and having been in and out of the side all season he may favour a move away. Valued at around £100,000, he started his career at Hull City but made his name during his two years at York City. Whilst playing for the Conference club he scored 42 goals in 86 appearances.

However, recently Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen insisted that Donaldson was one player he wanted to keep at his club, saying: “Of course he has a big part in my plans. I want to keep my best players and I have been using him nearly every week.”

Not a bad player by the looks of things either

He’d do a job in League One that’s for sure. Bags of pace but a bit lightweight IMO. I’d like to see him at Easter Road for another year or so to give him a chance but if you boys are willing to pay a fee then you’ll get him.
