Crewe move in on targets

Crewe Alexandra are moving in on another couple of targets as manager Steve Davis continues to work on strengthening his squad.

Davis has already brought in experienced pair Zoumana Bakayogo and Ryan Lowe since relegation was confirmed at the end of last season.

He’s also spoken to a young midfielder while similarly planning to hold discussions with an experienced forward at the weekend.

“I’ve spoken to a midfield player and talks went very well. He is an experienced player who has played 150 games but he’s young, not old,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “He has played in League One and the Championship so has lots of experience.

“He has now gone to do a training camp in Dubai to make sure he is fit. We’ll have to wait for him to get back for a decision,” he added. “I’ve set up a meeting this weekend with a forward who is experienced and proven, a bit like Lowey (Ryan Lowe) so we’ll see how that goes.”
