Crewe Alexandra On This Day – March 11th

There have been four games that have been played on March 11th this century.

In 2006, we hosted Southampton at the Alexandra Stadium. Peter Madsen gave the visitors the lead just after the hour-mark with Luke Rodgers equalising for the Alex with 12 minutes to go.

2 years later saw a home game with Port Vale. Paul Harsley opened the scoring for the visitors from the penalty spot on 57 minutes before Rodgers added a second 9 minutes from time.

2014 saw a trip to Walsall`s Bescot Stadium. Chuks Aneke gave the Alex a 51st minute lead with a Mark Ellis own goal gave the Saddlers a share of the spoils in the final minute.

The final game occurred last year as we hosted Newport County. Callum Cooke gave the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute before second-half goals from Dan Butler (53) and Joss Labadie (89) gave the Exiles the victory.
