Another friendly, another win for the Railwaymen this summer as goals from Zola and Miller seal the win at Gresty Road.

Away from the local non-league sides and Premier League reserves, today’s match against Blue Square Premier side Wrexham probably gave Dario the clearest idea yet of how his side is shaping up.

With the season underway in seven days time, Dario fielded what looks like will be his chosen 11 when Hereford visit Fortress Gresty next week. It meant no place for the likes of Byron Moore and Joel Grant as Donaldson, Zola and Miller led the line.

It has so far been a successful strike force this summer with all three amongst the goals and again today they proved to be match winners early on.

Miller and Zola teamed up on the 13th minute as Miller’s header allowed Zola in on goal to side step the keeper and slot home the opener. Then five minutes later Miller went solo, coming off the wing to fire home number 2.

The Alex the once again shone in defence, holding out for yet another clean sheet this summer, easily the most pleasing thing about pre season so far!

Now it’s just a matter of taking it into the new season.

1,532 were in attendance, including 333 Wrexham travelling fans.

Crewe: Rhys Taylor, Matt Toole, Daniel Blanchard, Ashley Westwood (Byron Moore 65), David Artell, Patrick Ada (Harry Davis73), Clayton Donaldson, Luke Murphy, Calvin Zola (A-Jay Leitch-Smith 65), Shaun Miller, Lee Bell

Wrexham: Scott Shearer, Declan Walker, Frank Sinclair, Chris Blackburn, Neil Ashton (Johnny Hunt 62), Kevin Gall, Dean Keates, Jay Harris (Jamie Tolley 62), Andy Morrell (Danny Racchi 62), Andy Mangan, Nat Knight-Percival.
