Danny O’Donnell is set to pen a six month contract after a successful trial at Shrewsbury Town this week.

The 24 year old Liverpudlian joins e Shropshire club having been released by the Alex in May. Having been with the club for three years, after signing in a £100,000 deal from Liverpool, O’Donnell fell out of Cavour under returning manager Dario Gradi back in April.

To say fans didn’t shed a tear at his departure would be an understatement having seen him ‘lead’ one of the worst defensive records in the country over the last few years.

Last month O’Donnell had a short trial with League One side Rochdale but failed to leave the right impression, opening the door for Shrewsbury to nip in and sign him.

After impressing in friendlies under the eye of Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner, O’Donnell could well be back at Gresty Road this season in a Shrewsbury shirt….goals galore!
