Clubcall are reporting that Premiership duo Liverpool and Everton are keeping tabs on Crewe’s Nicky Maynard. Liverpool have struggled for goals, especially away from home, though rivals Everton are enjoying a fine start to the the season and have scored in every game so far.

Maynard scored with his first touch in professional football as a half-time substitute on the last day of last season. The 19-year old also scored on his first start against Doncaster this season. The forward has 10 goals so far this season, and boasts a career record of 11 goals in 19 appearances.

Maynard’s fine early season form has resulted in numerous Premiership and Championship clubs visiting Gresty Road to watch the youngster. However, Clubcall’s reports of interest from Merseyside giants Liverpool and Everton seems unlikely to be anything more than a few scouting trips. So far this season, Everton have sent 2 scouts to Crewe home games, whilst Liverpool have sent 3. This is Maynard’s first season as a first team regular so he will need more time playing for Crewe to begin to fulfil his potential.
