Man City are once again being linked with a £1.5m January move for Crewe’s Billy Jones. Stuart Pearce is a known admirer of the 19-year old contract rebel, though a fee could prove a stumbling block with City likely to want a cheap deal for a player whose contract expires at the end of the season, albeit with compensation payable.
Billy’s performances have been under-par on the whole this season, though Man City and Cardiff have been repeatedly linked with a move for the England youth man. Cardiff’s October enquiry was dismissed with Dario Gradi suggesting the Welsh outfit couldn’t afford the youngster, though their subsequent takeover may change the situation.
