Bristol City have confirmed that they’re looking at Crewe target Jemal Johnson but Crewe may not pursue the American striker.

The Alex were linked to the Wolves striker over the weekend when ‘News Of The World’ reported that Dario had made a £100,000 bid, but, if true, now look to have stiff competition.

Bristol City have kept a close eye on the American, who they see as a possible partner for their new million pound man Lee Trundle. Bristol City manager Gary Johnson confirmed their search for a striker, but ruled out another reported Alex target – Liverpool’s Besian Idrizaj. He told BCFC.co.uk:

“We’re not in the business of signing players for the sake of it. Anyone I bring in has to be as good as or better than what I’ve already got.

“We looked at Idrizaj, but that won’t be going any further.”

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that interest in Johnson had been shown but won’t name any clubs. He told The Express and Star:

‘Jemal is still on the list and he will leave if we get any offers for him,” he said.

“There are a couple of clubs interested in [him] so we`re waiting to hear from them.’

Johnson could well be the ‘young Championship striker’ who Dario has been offered recently, as Johnson isn’t exactly what the team needs – which fits Dario’s description.

The club are expected to hold back on the unnamed Championship striker, possibly Johnson, to see if they can find a more suitable striker with Tottenham’s Lee Barnard still top of the list!

Do the cheeky Bristolian ****ers not have their own scouts?
Ah well, we could always give Constantine the £100,000 as a signing on fee, should help resolve the wages issue!
