Steve Holland has been relieved of his duties as manager of Crewe Alexandra. Dario Gradi returns as caretaker manager.

The club announced the much awaited changes at 5pm tonight (Tuesday). The club said in a statement that Chairman John Bowler was still in discussions with Steve Holland with regards to his “future role at the club”.

Given Holland’s record as Academy Director it would seem a sensible move to offer Holland a return to the academy. However, to me it seems unlikely that Holland would feel able to take the job again.

No announcement was made in regards to Neil Baker who presumably remains assistant-manager for the duration of Dario’s caretaker period.

There was also no mention on any replacement manager and whether Dario is in with a view of taking the job full time again.
