Crewe defender Paul Bignot has admitted he is still unsure at which club he will start the new season, having not committed to a new contract at the Alex.

With Crewe`s squad for the start of the new season all but concluded, the future of versatile full-back Paul Bignot is still up in the air. The likable Brummie, whose brother Marcus was a crowd favourite in his time at the Alex, admitted to the clubs official web site, ‘I’ve spoken to a few League clubs and some other clubs too, I just need to weigh up my options.’

Having only represented Crewe in 15 games last season, Bignot has to make the decision whether he would prefer first team football or to wait for his chance at Crewe.

The Alex manager Dario Gradi has admitted he would like Bignot to stay, and that there is a contract on the table for him, but he can`t guarantee him first-team football on a regular basis.

If Bignot decides to leave Gresty Road, Crewe will have to explore other defensive options, as the club would be left with only six defenders with first team experience. With one of those been Neil Cox who recently converted to a holding midfield position, Dario will be keen to strengthen our defensive cover.

With the new season gradually getting closer I`m sure the club and the fans would like to see Bignot`s future confirmed sooner rather than later.
