News coming out of Glocester this morning is that defender Gavin Caines has snubbed a move to Crewe, signing a new one year contract with current club Cheltenham instead.
Vital Crewe brought you news yesterday that the Alex management had admitted they were now turning their attentions towards a defender but interest in Caines has subsided after he decided to stay put.
He told thisisgloucestershire.co.uk: ‘I had a couple of offers from League Two clubs, which would have been two-year deals, but I wanted to stay at the higher level.’
‘Crewe were the latest club to show an interest, but I enjoy it at Cheltenham. I need to come back fit and it’s a big season for me.’
