In this column, we look at how the Alex Academy Graduates have done in the opening Premier League weekend of the season as well as the second weekend of Football League, National League and Scottish Premier League fixtures with all games taking place on Saturday.

Premier League:

Ashley Westwood played the full game for Burnley in their 3-0 home win against Southampton.

Luke Murphy was not involved for Bolton Wanderers in their 0-0 home draw against Coventry City while Junior Brown wasn’t involved for the visitors.

George Cooper was not involved for Peterborough United in their 1-0 defeat at Oxford United.

George Ray played the full game for Tranmere Rovers in their 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth while Gareth Evans was an unused sub for the hosts.

Michael O’Connor was replaced in second-half stoppage-time in Lincoln City’s 2-0 win at Rotherham United while Billy Jones was not involved for the hosts.

Oliver Turton played the full game for Blackpool in their 3-1 away win at Southend United.

Harry Davis played the full game for Grimsby Town in their 1-1 home draw against Bradford City while Kelvin Mellor played the full game for the visitors.

Chris Clements played the first 87 minutes for Cheltenham Town in their 4-1 home win against Scunthorpe United. Matty Lund played the full game while Ryan Colclough came on for the final 16 minutes, both for the visitors.

Nicky Maynard played the first 84 minutes and scored for Mansfield Town in their 2-2 home draw against Morecambe. Shaun Miller came on for the final 14 minutes, Ritchie Sutton was an unused sub and AJ Leitch-Smith was not involved, all for the visitors.

Perry Ng (booked), Ryan Wintle, Harry Pickering, Tom Lowery (78 mins) and Charlie Kirk (89 mins) all started for Crewe Alexandra in their 2-1 away win at Oldham Athletic. Owen Dale (14 mins, booked), James Jones (12 mins) and Callum Ainley (1 min) were all used substitutes while Ollie Finney, Billy Sass-Davies and Rio Adebisi were all unused subs.

Matt Tootle came on for the final 29 minutes for Notts County in their 2-1 home defeat against Barnet.
