Goals in either half from Joe Robbins, his first at Under-23 level, and Lewis Reilly gave Crewe Alexandra a victory at Queens Park Rangers in the opening game of the U23 Professional Development League this afternoon.

With tomorrow’s first-team trip to Middlesbrough in mind, manager Alex Morris named Scott Booth in goal with a back 4 of Travis Johnson, trialist Christian Mbulu, Billy Sass-Davies and Rio Adebisi. In front of them are midfielders Robbins, Josh Lundstram, Luke Offord and Regan Griffiths with Connor Heath playing just off Reilly up front.

The opening goal of the game came in the 20th minute with Robbins scoring a half-volley while the second came just after the break with Heath having an effort that was saved by Marcin Brzozowski in the QPR goal with Reilly the first to react to score from close-range.

The next game for Morris’ men is at the Alexandra Stadium against Crystal Palace a week on Wednesday (kicking off at 1pm) before a trip to Coventry City a fortnight today.
