Youngster ready to push on

Crewe Alexandra youngster Oli Finney hopes to continue pressing claims for senior involvement next season.

The midfield prospect signed a three-year deal with the club when a first-year scholar back in 2014 and joins the first-team squad as pre-season training begins this week.

He’s yet to make his senior debut but hopes to soon be following the likes of Callum Ainley and Charlie Kirk into the team.

“It’s only really started to sink in now that I’m becoming more involved with the first team,” Finney admitted to the Stoke Sentinel. “I’m just looking forward now to getting in the first team.

“Pre-season will be hard but we will have to keep working hard and see it what happens,” he added. “I’m looking forward to the friendlies and hopefully I can play well.”
