Former Manchester United youngster Luke Giverin can earn himself a contract with Crewe Alexandra if he impresses during pre-season.

“You can see he is a talented player and he could yet save us some money” – Steve Davis

The 20-year-old midfielder is travelling with the rest of the Alex squad for the private practice with Scottish champions Celtic this weekend.

“Luke has been fine so far,” manager Steve Davis told Crewe’s official website. “You can see he is a talented player and he could yet save us some money.

“He is a similar type of player to Ashley Westwood,” he continued. “He is neat and tidy and has a good left foot.”

However, Davis warned there could yet be competition from top-flight clubs in Holland following a recent successful loan with Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
