An impressive second-half come-back gave Crewe Alexandra Under-23s a victory against bottom of the table Hull City this evening despite the hosts leading at the break.

Manager Alex Morris named Will Jaaskelainen in goal with a back 4 in front of him from right to left of Travis Johnson, Josh Lundstram, Luke Offord and Kevin O’Connor. In front of them were Ollie Finney, Joe Lynch, Tom Lowery, Connor Heath and Rio Adebisi whilst Malachi Linton was up top on his own.

The opening goal of the game came in the 26th minute from the penalty spot with Robbie McKenzie beating Jaaskelainen following a hand-ball whilst the Alex had to wait until 10 minutes after the break to get on the scoresheet as Luke Offord turned in a free-kick from the Alex left.

Finney gave the visitors the lead on the hour-mark, getting his 7th of the season at this level, before Lowery would add a goal of his own from a free-kick. The deficit was halved with 6 minutes left to play as substitute Salam got on the end of full-back Brandon Fleming’s cross.

The next game for the Alex at this level sees Bolton Wanderers travel to Reaseheath a week on Wednesday (28th) with a 1pm kick-off
