A fit-again Ryan Colclough can be like a new signing for Crewe Alexandra but he must work harder on his recovery, according to manager Steve Davis.

“He hasn’t worked hard enough because you have to work hard when you’re injured” – Steve Davis

The nineteen-year-old missed six months of last season with injury and was restricted to just ten appearances for the Railwaymen. Davis insists he must now work hard throughout the summer in
order to make up for lost time.

“He had the double hernia operation, but it’s taken that long for him to get back,”
he told the Stoke Sentinel. “For whatever reason it hasn’t settled down as quickly as we would have liked.

“In fairness I don’t think that Ryan has helped himself,” Davis added. “He hasn’t worked hard enough because you have to work hard when you’re injured. That’s something that he will learn from in the future, but it has taken him a long time and personally I don’t think it should have taken as long as he has.”
