New winger Michael West needs more time to adjust to the professional game, according to Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Neil Baker.

West has spent the past three seasons playing part-time football with Conference side Ebbsfleet United before joining Alex for a nominal fee last month.

“Michael will probably need a bit more time to settle in because he has come from non-league football and is not used to full-time football.”
Baker explained to Crewe’s official website. “He has shown signs of his ability but we will be patient with him because we know where he has come from and what he is used to.”

The 21-year-old originally began his career with Fulham until arriving at Ebbsfleet, where he netted 23 goals during their promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier the season before last.
