Crewe Alexandra forward Byron Moore looks set to replace the sidelined AJ Leitch-Smith at Walsall this coming weekend.

“We are not desperately short, although we are not scoring and confidence is a little bit low” – Steve Davis

Leitch-Smith, 22, suffered ankle ligament damage during the latest defeat at Portsmouth and has already been ruled out for the next month.

However, Alex chief Steve Davis has recently been boosted by the return to action of Wembley goalscorer Moore after recovering from a bruised foot. And with Davis not electing to venture back into the loan market despite a clear shortage of goals of late, Moore is being viewed as the obvious replacement.

“I have thought about that, but Byron has come back,” Davis told This is Staffordshire. “That means, although we have lost Ajay, we have swapped one for one. We are not desperately short, although we are not scoring and confidence is a little bit low at the moment. We have to find a way this week of picking them up.”
