Teenage winger Brendan Daniels is pushing strongly for a first-team place according to manager Steve Davis.

The eighteen-year-old is appearing an increasing option after continuing to impress during Alex’s unbeaten pre-season programme.

“Brendan has done particularly well this pre-season,” Davis told This is Staffordshire. “He had a good last two months in the reserves when he played very well.

“He has carried that form into pre-season games so we are hopeful he can provide some more cover for that area,” he added. “We haven’t got a great deal of cover for the wings so if someone gets injured he would be one that we would consider to come in.”

Byron Moore, Max Clayton and recent signing Michael West are all challenging him for a wider role.
