The draw for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Quarter-Finals will take place on Sky’s SoccerAM this Saturday. The competition is now split into just Northern and Southern section – no east or west.

The Alex are through and with Port Vale out there are no easy routes to the semi-final (which is technically the quarter final…).

We can however face Bury, who beat Shrewsbury 6-5 on penalties last night, Vale’s conquerers Carlisle or League One’s Hartlepool after their win over Bradford City. Huddersfield are also through having beaten Peterborough last night.

There are still three ties to be decided. Burton and Rotherham and Sheff Wed and Chesterfield are due to play tonight (Wednesday) with the winners, obviously, going into the hat.

The tie between Accrington and Stockport has been postponed until further notice. Accrington could yet be chucked out of the competition (lucky beggars) after fielding an ineligible player in the first round.
