We’ve Got To Complete Our Mission

&headerbacI’m not sure he knows his name is being sung from the rooftops of Crewe this evening but Gudjon’s feet are still firmly on the ground.

Inside the Iceman is most probably buzzing right now. A 4-0 win over Brighton took the Alex out of the relegation zone for the first time in September; with Gudjon at the helm we’ve over turned a 8 point gap between us and safety and gone on a four match winning streak for the first time in some six years. He surely can’t help but feel immense satisfaction in that.

Speaking after todays win though Gudjon was happy to point out the weak points in our game. Speaking to crewealex.net, Thordarson said:

I feel good tonight because I enjoyed the game and the way my team played. We knew it was going to be a tough game coming here and it was.

‘I was disappointed not to have killed the game off in the first half because Daniel had two opportunities to do so. We had a chat at half-time and the second half was not in question.

‘Perhaps lady luck was with us a bit in the game with the injuries they had but I thought it was a definite penalty though. The linesman couldn’t have had an easier decision to make with that one and Billy Jones put it away well.

‘Brighton’s best chance came early in the second half when it went just wide of the post but once we survived that I thought we would go on and win the game.’

Thordarson now has to prepare the side for two big games in the coming days. Home ties to Carlisle and Hereford will be seen as definite winnable games, and six points from those two would surely give us a good cushion between us and the relegation zone.

The fightback continues. I think you will escape relegation with plenty to spare…..Set you well for next seasons campaign.

After that result you go and throw three home points away against Carlisle – back to square one.
