Weather Could Put Torquay Game In Doubt

With temperatures set to plummet in the next few days this weekend’s game at home to Torquay comes under threat.

Current forecasts suggest that snow is on it’s way for Thursday whilst temperatures on Friday will remain below freezing. It;s unlikely they’ll rise much prior to Saturday’s game either.

Whilst the pitch has been able to withstand this year’s heavy rainfalls the Main Stand remains a known problem when it comes to frost. The stand’s huge shadow on the pitch leaves the pitch no chance of thawing after a heavy frost and has caused multiple postponements since it was built in 1999.

The club will no doubt be using the pitch covers and praying that the weather is slightly better than that forecast. Neither club will be wanting this one off, with the Alex on a 5 game unbeaten run and steadily rising in the league, Torquay are also coming on the back of a 5-0 win against Darlington.

If the weather does claim the game then let’s hope the club and match officials are slightly more efficient than on previous occasions, more for Torquay fans sake. Another postponement an hour before kick off would not go down too well.
