Defender Adam Dugdale is keen to help Crewe Alexandra to a good start in their League One opener against Notts County this weekend.

“We must ensure we stay in this league this season and to do that we want to get off to a good start” – Adam Dugdale

The Alex are aiming to ensure they don’t suffer a dreaded repeat of twelve months ago when losing their first five games until a 1-0 win at Plymouth Argyle.

Crewe certainly go into the game in great spitits following their 5-0 hammering of Hartlepool United in the Capital One Cup last week.

“We played well against Hartlepool, but we are expecting a tough match against Notts County,” Dugdale told This is Staffordshire. “It will be a good test, but one we’re all relishing.

“I don’t want to get carried away. First and foremost we must ensure we stay in this league this season and to do that we want to get off to a good start,” he warned. “We haven’t managed that in a while and we don’t want to end up chasing in this division.”
