Eleven unbeaten games during pre-season has naturally left Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis feeling satisfield.

Alex completed their programme last night with a 1-0 triumph against visitors Barnsley, with defender Adam Dugdale netting the only goal at Gresty Road.

“It has been a good pre-season and now we have to be have to be sharp and ready for the first competitive game on Saturday,” Davis told
Crewe’s official website. “We have been difficult to break down and created some chances against Championship sides and although results do not matter too much in pre-season it is always good to be winning games.”

Crewe open their season proper with successive home games against Hartlepool United in the Capital One Cup followed by their League One return when hosting Notts County.
