Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis was left reflecting on missed chances following the Boxing Day defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“I thought with some better finishing we could have got something from it” – Steve Davis

On loan Michael Jacobs headed the promotion hopefuls into an early lead but it wasn’t until added time that Wolves’ top scorer Leigh Griffiths claimed a second to leave their visitors bottom of the table.

“I am disappointed the result because I felt that we had chances and that we were in the game right up until the final minutes,” Davis explained to Crewe’s
official website. “I was quite pleased with the performance but disappointed with the result because I thought with some better finishing we could have got something from it.

“Now we have to take this performance into the Colchester game on Sunday,” he added. “If we can perform like that and create and take chances, then we have every chance.”
